RFID Vulnerabilities in RFID Credit Cards (Video)

27 10 2006

I have posted a couple RFID hacks and viruses before, but this is ridiculous. All you need is a scanner and a laptop. Then walk around the mall with it all enabled in your backpack. Et Voila!! Lots of free credit card info!!

I’ll stick with the old magstripe for now thanks.

Oh, to defend yourself against this (if you already have an RFID enabled credit card), cover an old credit card (or something similar) in tinfoil. Put that tinfoil card in with your RFID enabled credit cards, right next to them is preferable. The tinfoil should (I repeat should) absorb the small amount of electricity that it takes to excite the RFID chip and make it broadcast its data, thusly blocking any scanners.

L8s.
