Gmail Users With a “.” in Their Email Address Get Misdirected Emails

I was wondering about this lately:

The reason for receiving such misdirected emails, was found out exactly at 7:30am this morning, by yours truly. That person and I have our email accounts at Google’s Gmail service.

Let’s say our names are John Doe.

My email account is JohnDoe@gmail.com

The other person’s email account is John.Doe@gmail.com

Notice the “.” in the other person’s account name.

In a Google’s beta Gmail world – John.Doe is the same person as JohnDoe. But – JohnDoe may not be the same guy John.Doe

In other words – if an email is sent to John.Doe@gmail.com – two people may receive that email – John.Doe – the person it was intended for, and JohnDoe – the person it was absolutely not intended for.

Hence in this awesome beta world I’ve been invited to a “pot” (gaanja) party this weekend at someone called Peedee’s house.

Read the rest of the article because it is funny as shit, then figure out someway to use this knowledge for naughty purposes.
